How choosing your attitude will improve the quality of your life
Thinking good thoughts help create a better mood.
Being in a good mood helps you do what you planned to do joyfully and can bring better results overall. The same situation and the same tasks can be approached with a different attitude.
My family lives in Europe, and I live in Australia. Flights take at least 25 hours.
Sometimes, I noticed that I could not wait to get off the plane when I had just gotten on it: I couldn’t sleep and didn’t want to watch a movie or read a book. All I wanted was to get off that plane. As a result, I got irritable and restless and time was crawling. I would check my phone a dozen times only to see that it hadn’t been even an hour.
But during other flights, I anticipated the time on a plane without any connection to the outside world.
I would read my book and journal, make plans, catch up on the movies, listen to podcasts and sleep. Before I knew it was time for breakfast and a landing shortly after that. I love those flights.
As you can see it’s all about how you approach a particular event or task.
You probably can think of similar experiences: you can get stuck in traffic and happily chat with a friend or beep and be angry at everything and everyone around you. Your choice.
It’s your conscious decision how to feel at this moment.
Yes, we get affected by events, but it’s up to us to decide what we think about them. We can make ourselves a victim, or we can choose to be a creator of our day. You might have planned to sleep in on your day off, but the unexpected work on the carpet replacements in your building woke you up at 7am sharp.
A). You can blame the workers for starting so early and be upset that your day didn’t start the way it was OR
B). Get up, get ready, go to your favourite coffee shop, read a book, or write a chapter of your book that you’ve been working on. Or, perhaps go to the art gallery to enjoy the latest exhibition and get inspiration for your next art project.
Every moment and every event during the day invites you to choose what you want more of in your life or what you want less in your life.
Choose wisely.
“What you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it.”
